'ja' lus འཇའ་ལུས།

rainbow body, authentic existence, transfigured psycho-organism, body of a saint vanishing in the rainbow or in the manner of the colors of the rainbow, rainbow body of light. (JV)

འཇའ་ལུས་འཕོ་བ་ཆེན་པོ། - ('ja' lus 'pho ba chen po) (supreme transference which is) rainbow body. (RB)

Rainbow body. 1) At the time of death of a practitioner who has reached the exhaustion of all grasping and fixation through the Dzogchen practice of Togal, the five gross elements which form the physical body, dissolve back into their essences, five-colored light. Sometimes only the hair and the nails are left behind. 2) Passing away in a mass of rainbow light and leaving no corpse behind. (RY)
