Gyangkhang Rigdizn Jigme Rangdrol
I have some confusion regarding this Lama. Whether or not he was the nephew of Kuchen Karma Tashi or the Tulku of Karma Tashi's nephew Lama Wangchuk, thought I guess both could have been nephews. The web-page palyul.org at large and specifically the Short Biography of Khentul Gyangthang Rinpoche (Gyangthang is misspelling of Gyangkhang), the English book A Garland of Immortal Wish-fulfilling Trees and it's Tibetan version are what research tools I have had in this, and they all three seem to say/read differently.
The “ Short Biography of Khentul Gyangthang Rinpoche” says the Jigme Rangdrol is the tulku of Wangchuk, who was the brother of Kuchen Karma Tashi. Now I believe the Tulku part to be correct but the brother part a mistake, he should have been Karma Tashi nephew. All sources but this one point to nephew. However the English “A Garland of Immortal Wish-fulfilling Trees” reads; “Although he was not a throne holder of the Palyul lineage, Wangchug Tulku Rigzin Jigmed Rangdrol (the nephew of Karma Tashi) was an important lineage-holding Lama” making him more like the first generation relative to Wangchuk and Karma Tashi than the next generation's Ontrul (Incarnated Great Nephew). Then again the Tibetan as you can see below under ' Short biography – Tibetan ', says; “karma bkra shis kyi dbon po dbang phyug gi sprul sku rig 'dzin 'jigs med rang grol ni/”, which I read as “here is, Karma Tashi's nephew, Wangchuk's incarnation Rigdzin Jigme Rangdrol”. And this is what I believe.
Now you have all the info I have, I hope with this a more knowledgeable person will correct this page and any other mistakes that have been made in the Palyul transmissions' pages because this issue has come up else where for the Palyul. Bj Lhundrup 21:56, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
