the six faults of (mantra) repetition:

(1) repeating too fast and thus slurring the syllables, (2) repeating too slow and thus disconnecting the syllables, (3) repeating too loud so as to cause irritation (for others), (4) repeating in too low a voice so that the qualities and abilities can not manifest, (5) being too drowsy and thus mumbling or slurring unintelligibly, (6) being too agitated and/or distracted so as to loose concentration upon the repetition. Two further faults, mentioned in various sources, are to interrupt ones repetition with ordinary speech, and to shorten or prolong certain syllables, thus making it eight faults [TSD]
