Another important seat of Jamgön Kongtrul Lodrö Thaye in eastern Tibet. This place is sacred to Guru Padmasambhava, Yeshe Tsogyal, Lotsawa Vairotsana and other early masters. Their practice caves can be found there. Several of the surrounding mountains are said to be the seats of Yangdag Heruka, Vajrakila, Hayagriva and other deities. A practice cave of the 9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje is situated high up on one of these mountains. Many self-arisen designs and shapes can be found all around the mountains and rocks. It is here where Kongtrul arranged most of his collection of Terma teachings, the famous Rinchen Terdzo. The three-year retreat center there focuses upon the practices and teachings of the Shangpa Kagyu tradition. Dzongshö Desheg Düpe Phodrang counts as one of the twenty-five sacred sites of the eastern Tibetan province of Kham.
