Middle Way (dbu ma); Skt. Madhyamaka. The highest of the Four Buddhist Schools of Philosophy. The Middle Way means not holding any extreme views, especially those of eternalism or nihilism.

Middle Way (Tib. dbu ma, Skt. madhyamika) : Buddhism's more elevated form of philosophy, so called because it avoids the two extremes of nihilism and of belief in the reality of phenomena (eternalism or materialism) [MR]
