Short Biography[edit]
In 1351 Longchenpa had a daughter born to Kyipala and in 1356, a son named Gyalsé Tulku Drakpa Özer (or Dawa Drakpa), born in the Year of the Fire Monkey. Dawa Drakpa, also known as Thugsé Dawa, as he is popularly referred to now, was a manifestation of the Dharma protector Hayagriva. He later became a great scholar and practitioner and a holder of the Nyingthig lineage.
Longchenpa’s son, Gyalsé Tulku Drakpa Özer, was born inside a cliff below the road between Tharpa Ling and Zanglai Pogto. His mother, Kyipala, used a large stone bowl to wash the baby with the water flowing from the cliff. This large stone bowl can still be seen today.
The retreat center Ngesang Takten Ling in Bhutan is said to be funded by Gyalse Dragpa Ozer.

While in Bhutan, Longchenpa fathered at least one child with his consort Ani Kyidpala (skyid pa lags) from Chungsekha in the Sha valley of western Bhutan. His son, Drakpa Wozer (grags pa 'od zer, 1356-1409), went on to be a Nyingtik lineage holder. Drakpa Wozer would be later incarnated in a Dzogchen lineage as a 'mind-son' (thugs sras), the first one being also named Drakpa Wozer (grags pa 'od zer, b. 1416). Many in this lineage were born in Bumthang and served as heads of Samtenling.[17] Longchenpa is also said to have fathered a daughter in 1351, whose name is not known.
