The teacher referenced in Lama Gonpo's bio is Changma Khenchen Thubten Chopel aka Bathur Khenpo Thupga, or Thubga Yishyin Norbu (1886-1956) — an important student of Khenpo Yonga and Orgyen Tenzin Norbu who followed in the footsteps of Patrul Rinpoche. He was renowned for his great scholarship, especially in relation to the Guhyagarbha Tantra, his contribution to the flourishing of the monastic tradition, and his realization of the Dzogchen teachings. Some of his most important students were: Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok, Gonpo Tseten Rinpoche, Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche and the Sixth Dzogchen Rinpoche, Jigdral Changchub Dorje. Dear Bj, thank you for your work on Lama Gonpo's bio. I'm not sure if any of his many students would consider themselves important enough to want their names included in the list of main students. A couple of his more famous ones are Anne Klein and John Myrdhin Reynolds. Other of his students are included in the list of contributors at the end of the article. 19 Dec '10

I started studying dharma at 18 while staying in Salt Lake City of all places. Started practicing with the help of a student of Tulku Urgyen's by the name of Lama Thupten that same year, and met my two closest Rinpoches Khen Kon-mon and Lama Dawa by age 19. Traveled and studied with Tulku Choejor for close to two years and have been living and studying in Denver, Colorado at Anyen Rinpoche's western shedra since 2007. Where I have learned so much.

I have received many teaching and few lineages but mostly I would like to think of myself as a Longchen Nyingtik follower. But for sure Nyingma and Kagyu is all I know anything about.
