The usage of HTML tag seems correct as it is indicate in WikiMedia Help :

"Although HTML table syntax also works, special wikicode can be used as a shortcut to create a table."

As soon as you have a bit complicated table, using an exterior wiswyg HTML table editor greatly helps.

There is very few table in WikiMedia articles, let's give them a chance. Greg
