Member of the branch of the Gya (rgya) clan descending from [[Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje]]'s eldest brother Lhatsen. The son of [[Drukpa Zhonnu Senge]]'s younger brother Lopon Rinchen Pel. Nyima Senge was the third of the '[[Incomparable Nine Lions]]' (mnyam med seng ge dgu) important in the early history of the 'Brug pa Bka' brgyud pa school. Became the throne holder of [[Ralung  Monastery|Ralung]] at the age of 16.
