Member of the branch of the Gya (rgya) clan descending from Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje's eldest brother Lhatsen. The son of Drukpa Zhonnu Senge's younger brother Lopon Rinchen Pel. Nyima Senge was the third of the 'Nine Lions' (seng ge dgu) important in the early history of the 'Brug pa Bka' brgyud pa school.

rang bzhin snang mdzad 'jig rten mgon
bdag kyang rab tu skyabs pa dang
nam mkha'i rdo rje'i deng bdag gsol

Great protector, victorious and transcendent,
Protector of the universe who illuminates the true nature,
