The Opium Wars. The first Opium War was between the Britain Empire and Qing Dynasty China in 1839-42, and the second one was 1856-60 between Britain (with the help of France) and China. The fighting was mostly in Canton or Guangzhou in southeastern China, close to Hong Kong. [Erick Tsiknopoulos]
