Natural earth medicine. Dark red earth (Das 1902). Clay is a fine-grained natural sediment, comprising clay minerals usually rich in silica and alumina and with certain amounts of quartz, iron and aluminium and organic matter. Clays are white or pale coloured when pure but appear in various colours from grey to black, green, yellow, brown or red when impure (mindat.org).
