Phagdru Kagyu (phag gru bka' brgyud)
The Phagdru Kagyu lineage (phag gru) was established by Phagmo Drupa Dorje Gyalpo (phag mo grub pa rdo rje rgyal po), (1110-1170). His lineage was to be continued by the Lang (rlang) family. Eventually they became very influential politically. Phagmo Drupa had eight main students who became the founders of the Eight lesser Kagyu lineages.
