(med) Badger. te lo'i klad pa, skunk brain (Phrin Las 1987). Phrin Las gives 'skunk', which is a New World genus. The image on the thangka reminds a weasel-like animal, certainly a kind of badger.
Badgers are a polyphyletic grouping of short-legged omnivores in the family Mustelidae (which also includes the otters, wolverines, martens, minks, polecats, weasels, and ferrets) (wikipedia).
Lepcha and Bhotia peoples in northeast India keep Melogale personata in their homes to control cockroaches and other insect and rodent pests. M. personata is hunted and trapped in southeast Asia. Like all ferret badgers, the Burmese ferret badger is used as a source of food, fur, and medicines by the local people (animaldiversity.org) [[User:Johannes Schmidt|Johannes Schmidt]] ([[User talk:Johannes Schmidt|talk]]) 17:39, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
