The important iron ore Hematite (smug po sbal rgyab) is found with the non-meltable medicinal stones.

dkar po sbal rgyab (identified either with Wollastonite or Limestone / Stalactites),
dkar po chig thub (identified with either Gypsum / Anhydrite or Wollastonite) and
smug po chig thub (identified with Goethite).
Hematite (Fe2O3), "bloodlike", in allusion to the vivid red colour of the powder, is an iron oxide mineral, and variable in its appearance - it can be in reddish brown, ocherous masses, dark silvery-grey scaled masses, silvery-grey to black crystals, and dark-grey masses. Large ore bodies of Hematite are usually of sedimentary origin, it is also the cause of red soils all over the planet (mindat.org).
