'''cong zhi''' has a lengthy notice in the Shel phreng, with different types and several sub-types for each. Mostly rendered as limestone or Calcite, sometimes Gypsum. In dGa' ba'i rDo rje, an important number is pictured and mostly an identification proposed. <br>
''Limestone'' is a sedimentary rock, consisting chiefly of Calcium carbonate, primarily in the form of the mineral ''Calcite'' (Calcium carbonate CaO3), formed by either organic or inorganic processes. Many are highly fossiliferous and clearly represent ancient shell banks or coral reefs. The most common calcium carbonate minerals are ''Calcite'' and ''Aragonite''. ''Calcite'' is most common as massive material in limestones and marbles, with highly variable forms and colours. An important biomineral. Calcite biomineralization may be induced by bacteria or fungi (mindat.org). ''Aragonite'' is a transparent or translucent mineral, colorless to white or grey, often stained with various hues due to impurities, such as blue, green, red or violet. Nacre consists of platelets of aragonite (calcium carbonate), the iridescent effect is caused by the size of these platelets being close to the wavelength of visible light, resulting in diffraction in different directions for different wavelengths (colours) of light (see '''[[nya phyis]]''', mother of pearl). See also '''[[rdo thal]]''', lime. <br>
''Gypsum'' is the most common sulphate mineral, found as both massive material, including the alabaster variety; and clear crystals, the selenite variety. When the mineral contains water, it is called ''Gypsum'', when it does not, it is called ''Anhydrite'' (Calcium sulfate, CaSO4). <br>
''Baryte'' (BaSO4) is vitreous or pearly mineral, transparent or of white, yellow to brown colour. usually in clusters with the crystals growing parallel to one another, or as bladed, white masses. <br>
The indian name '''''śailodaka''''' is a non identified medical substance, according to Mahavyutpatti 'cong zhi chu', juice of the soma plant. See also '''''sudhā''''', limepowder, limeplaster, but also nectar (wisdomlib.org). <br>

cong zhi has a lengthy notice in the Shel phreng, with different types and several sub-types for each. Mostly rendered as limestone or Calcite, sometimes Gypsum. In dGa' ba'i rDo rje, an important number is pictured and mostly an identification proposed.
Limestone is a sedimentary rock, consisting chiefly of Calcium carbonate, primarily in the form of the mineral Calcite (Calcium carbonate CaO3), formed by either organic or inorganic processes. Many are highly fossiliferous and clearly represent ancient shell banks or coral reefs. The most common calcium carbonate minerals are Calcite and Aragonite. Calcite is most common as massive material in limestones and marbles, with highly variable forms and colours. An important biomineral. Calcite biomineralization may be induced by bacteria or fungi (mindat.org). Aragonite is a transparent or translucent mineral, colorless to white or grey, often stained with various hues due to impurities, such as blue, green, red or violet. Nacre consists of platelets of aragonite (calcium carbonate), the iridescent effect is caused by the size of these platelets being close to the wavelength of visible light, resulting in diffraction in different directions for different wavelengths (colours) of light (see nya phyis, mother of pearl). See also rdo thal, lime.
Gypsum is the most common sulphate mineral, found as both massive material, including the alabaster variety; and clear crystals, the selenite variety. When the mineral contains water, it is called Gypsum, when it does not, it is called Anhydrite (Calcium sulfate, CaSO4).
Baryte (BaSO4) is vitreous or pearly mineral, transparent or of white, yellow to brown colour. usually in clusters with the crystals growing parallel to one another, or as bladed, white masses.
The indian name śailodaka is a non identified medical substance, according to Mahavyutpatti 'cong zhi chu', juice of the soma plant. See also sudhā, limepowder, limeplaster, but also nectar (wisdomlib.org).
