Alums are double sulfate-salts, mostly with potassium and aluminium and widely used since the antiquity. The mineral Alunite is white and can show pale shades of yellow, red to reddish brown (mindat.org) Saurāṣṭrī, from the mines of Saurāṣṭra Pradeśa is known as Saurāṣṭrī. It is also known as Tuvarī (Tubarī). And if it is pasted on white cloth it makes the colour fast hence it is known as raṅgabandhakarī. It has two varieties, Phullikā and Khaṭika. Kāṅkṣī, another synonym, refers also to alum clay (wisdomlib.org). <br>
