“It (kyi lce dkar po) tastes bitter, has heat-clearing and detoxifying effects, and cures blood diseases and Chiba disease. It grows in mountains at high altitudes and the roots are similar to tendons. The plants are fluffy and messy with overlapping leaves, which are similar to eight-corner pagodas. The flowers are white and urceolate in shape” (Chi 2021).

5. Campanula trachelium L. (Campanulaceae) Nettle leafed bellflower (Molvray 1988 H,P). Cited from northern sources.
Generally one distiguishes 2 types, white and black, but descriptions vary according to authors : kyi lce dkar po has white flowers and small leaves, whereas kyi lce nag po has larger leafs and also white flowers, but a bit darker for the one, or a blue flower for others (Kletter 2001).
Most of the Gentians cited as kyi lce belong to the Cruciata section of Gentiana : G. tibetica, G. robusta, G. crassicaulis, G. straminea, G. macrophylla and G. dahurica. Facing taxonomic diffulties of several close species, Kletter (2001) proposes for kyi lce a Gentiana tibetica group, where G. straminea represents the northern type, G. robusta the southern type, G. tibetica the central one and G. crassicaulis the eastern type.
The important genus Gentiana is mainly found in 3 succesif groups : gang ga chung , kyi lce and spang rgyan as well as tig ta and several individual names. A recent study identifies some 80 species of the Gentianeae tribe for spang rgyan, kyi lce, tig ta and gang ga chung (Chi 2021, https://doi.org/10.3390/plants10112383)
