dGa' ba'i rDo rje mentions the orthographic variants thing ril and mthing ril, the latter name is applied by David Holler (Tibet.birds.com) to the Ibisbill (Ibidorhyncha struthersii). It occurs on the high plateau of Central Asia and the Himalayas, but it's distinctive features are not illustrated in the Eye Ornament.
