(med) Dodder

1. Cuscuta europaea L. (Convolvulaceae) European dodder (Wangyal 2020)
2. Cuscuta chinensis Lam. (Convolvulaceae) Chinese dodder (Molvray 1988 H). Reported name gser gud. Cited from northern sources. gser gud echoes the name gser skud for Usnea lichen or 'Old man's beard'. Both have a thread like morpholgy, both lack roots. But they present very different life forms. Dodder is a parasitic plant living from the sap of a host plant, whereas Usnea is an epiphytic lichen, a symbiosis of an algae and a fungus.
