Parmelia lichen are treated in the medicinal stone section. Lichens have medical and nutritional value, but play also an important role in the rock mineralisation. (2021) found 142 lichen species used as medicine and 42 species used as food, uses with considerable overlap. Some are used in incense, for perfumes and other local uses.
