rtsangs pa is identified with the Himalayan Agama, having a range from Southern Pamir, Afghanistan, Karakoram mountains, Ladakh and Himalaya up to Tibet; elevation 1000 – 3500 m. The illustrations in the Medical Thangkas and the Eye Ornament also depict lizards. Yet, Jam-dpal describes in the Eye Ornament 2 types, a forest lizard or forest toad/frog, and a valley lizard.
