Nyawon Kunga Pal (1285-1379) was one of the primary disciples of [[Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen]]. He met his teacher Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen several times as a child at Sakya Monastery. He later left Sakya for Jonang where he studied both the sutras and tantras closely with Dolpopa, mastering the Buddhist sciences of psychology and phenomenology, and receiving the entire Dro transmission of the Kalacakra Tantra.
