Vanaratna (1384-1468), said to have been the last great Pandita to visit Tibet. He was born in Sadnagara near present-day Chittagong in Eastern Bengal/Bangladesh and visited Tibet three times in 1426, 1433 and 1453. A great Kalacakra scholar in the lineage of Vibhuti-candra (12th/13th cent.); teacher to 'gos lo tsA ba gzhon nu dpal (1392-1481) and khrims khang lo tsA ba bsod nams rgya mtsho (1424-1482). Vanaratna spent his final years in the Gopicandra Vihara in Patan/Kathmandu, now known as Pinthu Bahal, and passed away there. [TSD]
