Mingyur Rinpoche is a reincarnate lama who holds both the [[Kagyu]] and [[Nyingma]] lineages. Rinpoche was recognized as the incarnation of the previous Mingyur Rinpoche by the [[16th Karmapa]], and as the incarnation of [[Kangyur Rinpoche]] by [[Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche]]. From the time he was eight, rinpoche spent most of his time in strict retreat. He first lived with his father, [[Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche]], at [[Nagi Gonpa]] in the hills above Kathmandu.
