The most common in Tibet is the Black-necked Crane (Grus nigricollis) (comm. tibetbirds). The Common Crane, Grus grus, breeds n Eurasia; winters to n Africa, s India and SE Asia. The black-necked crane is a medium-sized crane in Asia that breeds on the Tibetan Plateau and winters mainly in remote parts of India and Bhutan. It is revered in Buddhist traditions and culturally protected across much of its range. A festival in Bhutan celebrates the bird while the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir considers it as the state bird (avibase). Johannes Schmidt (talk) 21:09, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
