Alpha-Brass (Cu3Zn) is a yellow ore with copper-zinc proportions close to technical brass ( see li). The mineral Aurichalcite (see rag) named after Aurichalcum (Latinized version of the Greek "mountain copper"), yellow copper or brass, in allusion to its copper and zinc content, the constituents of brass.Brass is slightly harder than copper, but not as hard as bronze (mindat.org).
