I'm happy to report that the Barawa Kagyu still exist. They have long been a family lineage and the present head, Ven. Dra Kushok Jampal Rinpoche, resides in Dharamsala. I had the honour to interpret for him on the 1st Annual Drukpa Council that was held here in Nepal a few month ago. He actually spoke on the history of the Barawa. TSD

I find Dra Kushok Rinpoche listed in "Masters Attending the First ADC" (nice photo) but naught else. (I was gob-smacked to read "survived as an independent lineage until 1959" and didn't assume that phrase was meant as date of extinction.) --KC:
