Natural salt medicine. The indian term lavana is a generic term for salt. According to sources, 5, 6 or 8 qualities or types are described (for example saindhava - rock salt (rgyam tsha), sāmudra -sea salt (mtsho tsha), biḍa - black salt, fabricated salt, yavakṣāra -nitre (ya ba ksha ra), sauvarcala – Sochal salt (kha ru tsha), udbhedaja – alkalies, salt from vegetable ashes, somtimes earth salt, that which is extracted from saline soil) Of all, saindhava, rock salt (rgyam tshwa), is the best (wisdomlib.org). loṇa may also refer to salpeter.
