སྐྱར་མོ
heron [RY]

mergamser linnaeus, mergonser, kind of water fowl, heron, flesh of this fowl is antidote for certain poison [JV]

heron, again [IW]

(med) Little Egrette, Egretta garzetta (Drungtso 1999), Heron (Phrin Las 1987). A small white heron, widespread Eurasia, east and South Africa (avibase).
(med) skyar mo'i spu gzhob sha, Ash of Sea gull (!) feather and flesh. (Phrin Las 1987).
The tibetan name of the thangka image, skyar mo, denotes herons and egrets. The english caption, sea gull, would be chu bya, 'dag bya or chu skyar. The image depicts neither of them, but recalls rather a member of the grebe family of water birds (David Holler, tibetbirds). Johannes Schmidt (talk) 22:21, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
