Close Śravaka disciple of the Buddha.

One of the first to join the Buddha's order of monks. He followed his friend Yaśas into the Buddhist order.

One of the group of five friends who were the second group to become students of the Buddha, and he was one of the ten students of the Buddha who were the first to become arhats.

Śrāvaka arhat; one of the Buddha's five close arhat disciples. He took ordination from the Buddha and then became a disciple of Śāriputra.
