A term of grammar. The eight cases. There are eight cases in Tibetan grammar. The first case is called ming tsam ngo bo, i.e. the case of the name. Since this is not a case in the normal sense, it is sometimes said that there are seven cases rnam bye bdun in which case the first case is excluded
