(med) Cinnabar, Mercury sulfide (HgS). Orth. variant : lcog la. Synonyms : cog la ma, mtshal, mtshal dkar, rdo mtshal, rgya mtshal, da chu, ka shar na zer, tam ka na dang (Yeshi 2018). cog la mi bzos. Synonym for dha chu, cinnabar (Drungtso 1999). Principal ore of mercury (see dngul chu) and may be confused with litharge or minium (see li khri). Several mining sites in Central Tibet. Vermillion is artificially produced cinnabar.
