(med) Snow Frog (Phrin Las 1987). Between the frog (sbal pa) and the snow frog (skyin gor) there is hardly a difference in the thangka images. sbal nag is considered a toad (Yeshi 2017), but there are a few frogs known in Tibet. E.g. the Chinese Brown Frog, Rana chensinensis, covers a large part of western China, Tibet and Inner Mongolia. It is used in traditional chinese medicine. The small High Himalaya Frog, Nanorana parkeri, is found only on the Tibetan Plateau and Nepal, breeding at elevations from 2,800 m to almost 5,000 m, making it perhaps the highest elevation frog. It is the first frog to have its whole genome sequenced (amphibiaweb). Johannes Schmidt (talk) 19:33, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
