Mineralogically, asbestos (Hydrous magnesium silicate) includes certain silicate minerals that have a highly fibrous (asbestiform) structure, are heat resistant and chemically inert, possess high electrical insulating qualities, and are of sufficient flexibility to be woven. The 3 main minerals for commercial asbestos are Chrysotile (white asbestos), Amosite (brown asbetos) and Crocidolite (blue asbestos, see mthing rgyus). Chrysotile, or white asbestos, is worldwide the main asbestos mineral. Mining sites in Qinhai, Inner Mongolia (mindat.org).
The indian name Khaṭika is given as analogue for rdo rgyus, but refers also to a type of alum (lce myang, tshur dkar) as well as chalk and limestone (cong zhi) (wisdomlib.org).
