The Shel gong shel phreng discribes only the blue colour of the flowers. Other distinguish a large superior type with dark blue flowers and an inferior type with pale blue flowers (Kletter 2001).
The important genus Gentiana, here as substitute, is mainly found in 3 succesif groups : gang ga chung , kyi lce, and spang rgyan and with several individual names.
