byi thur is given as synonym to gzugs mo, porcupine, but also translated as hedgehog. dGa' ba'i rDo rje (1995) shows the porcupine quills under the name byi thur, and mentions the hedgehog within the notice of the porcupine under the name rgang. The thangka image in Phrin Las 1987 also recalls a porcupine.
