(sman) Jadeite (dGa' ba'i rDo rje 1998)

Illustration : dGa' ba'i rDo rje 2018 (n°022) dzus

Jadeite is one of the two minerals which compose Jade, the other being Nephrite (g.yang tri). Employed already since the Chinese Neolithic to make choppers and blades due to their toughness and resistance to fracture, Jade became later in the Chinese culture as valued as gold and diamonds elsewhere. Jadeite jade is more rare than Nephrite and gives the most valued of all Jades, the emerald-green and translucent 'Imperial Jade'.
dGa' ba'i rDo rje (1998) describes Nephrite jade (g.yang tri) as an affiliate under Jasper (khyung skyugs), and Jadeite jade (dzus) as an affiliate under Emerald (ma rgad).
dzus does not seem to be a common word, definitely less than g.yang tri. Maybe it denotes only the particular form 'Imperial Jade', and g.yang tri applies to Jade in general.
