  • The Ugpalung Monastery built by Zurpoche, his main seat and later the main seat of his heart-son and main lineage hoolder, Zurchungpa and where Yungtonpa studied. Within the lower Shang valley of Tanag it is known as "Owl Valley". Amassed at Ugpalung monastery was one of the largest and most important collections of all the root tantras and exegetical tantras; the root-texts and their commentaries; the tantras and their means for attainment.[BL]
