Choying Dorje, the 10th Karmapa (1604-1674)

Choying Dorje, chos dbyings rdo rje, (1604-1674). Due to persecution by various factions during the politically very unstable situation of his time, the 10th Karmapa spent many years of his life travelling disguised as a beggar with only one or two attendants. When, after many years, he could finally return to his seat at Tsurphu, he became known not only for the extraordinary depth of his realisation but also as an outstanding artist.
