The 10th Shamarpa, Mipham Chodrub Gyamtso was recognized by the thirteenth Karmapa, Dudul Dorje, who had been his teacher. Chodrub Gyamtso became a scholar and a meditation master. In his forties he travelled to Nepal, where he attracted and taught many followers. He also restored the great Swayambhu stupa, one of Nepal's great Buddhist monuments.
