Khenpo Chönang (b. 1963), also known as Dzamthang Tulku Chökyi Nangwa, came to India from Amdo in the early 1990's. He is considered an incarnation of Tshalmin Sonam Sangpo (mtshal min bsod nams bzang po), one of the fourteen main disciples of [[Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen]]. He studied closely under the late [[Ngawang Yonten Sangpo]], Vajra Master Lama Palsang and the abbot Lobsang Thrinle, and now heads the Jonang monastery in Shimla/northern India where he educates approximately 100 young monks, among them three young reincarnated masters of the Jonangpa. Recently a retreat center for the practice of the six-limbed vajra-yoga of Kalachakra has been constructed near the monastery. Khen Rinpoche, who is considered an expert on these six yogas, also oversees the guidance of the retreatants there.
