Karl Brunnhölzl is a physician and studied Tibetology and Sanskrit at the University of Hamburg, Germany. He translates Tibetan Buddhist texts into English and German since 1988. He was mainly trained in Buddhist philosophy and Tibetan language at [[Marpa Institute for Translators]] (Director: [[Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche]].

Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo was one the foremost disciples of [[Dharma Senge Sangye On]] the nephew and successor of the Drukpa founder [[Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje]]. He came from eastern Tibet and, following the advice of his master to go to a place 'south of Tibet', spread the [[Drukpa Kagyu]] lineage to Bhutan.

Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo (1184-1251)

Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo was one the foremost disciples of Dharma Senge Sangye On the nephew and successor of the Drukpa founder Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje. He came from eastern Tibet and, following the advice of his master to go to a place 'south of Tibet', spread the Drukpa Kagyu lineage to Bhutan.
