*A wooden frame ([[nam mkha']]) around which coloured threads ([[rgyang bu]]) are bound and feathers attached. This contraption is utilised in rituals designed for the catching and exorcising of evil spirits and negative forces. The structure assumes a different form, depending on the type of spirit or malevolent force, which is to be exorcised. For a detailed description of the various types of thread-cross, their preparation and efficacy, see Nebesky-Wojkowitz, Oracles and Demons of Tibet, pp. 369-397.
