Both, the Eurasian Blackbird, Turdus merula, and the Tibetan Blackbird, Turdus maxima, are seen in the Lhasa region.
"Corvids, crows, like the Large billed crow. Raven, crows, jays, magpies, all belong to the raven family. Members with strong caracteristics like jays or magpies (skya ga) have their own name. bya rog is the raven, Red- and Yellow-billed chough are skyung ka. khwa ta are all black birds smaller than raven and not being a Blackbird (bya nag)" (David Holler, tibetbirds.com).
