(med) Realgar, Arsenic monosulfide (AsS). Synonyms : dmar po dri ldan, gar mkhan ma, glu che ba, ma ni tsha, man shel. From Arabic "rahj al-gahr", powder of the mine. Known as a mineral pigment in Byzantium. Upon exposition to light the red realgar changes into yellowish-brown pararealgar. It also gives the yellow orpiment as alteration product.
