1. Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre (Fabaceae) Pongam oil tree, Indian beech (Drungtso 1999)

Very succinct notice in the Shel gong shel phreng where it is associated with some wild ginger (the notice for ginger follows shortly after). The Medical Thangkas show a tree, and Drungtso (1999) proposes Pongamia pinnata. The same species is also identified with ka ranya dza, where there is a lengthy discussion about the relation and identity of ka ranya dza and 'jam 'bras. ma nu shu zur is not mentioned in the Eye Ornament.
