*A ritual in which inscribed diagrams are burnt as offerings ([[homa]]) along with various diverse sacramental substances in the context of the four rites of pacification, enrichment, subjugation and wrath. For the rite of pacification, the hearth is white and round, and the sacraments include curd, milk, butter, sesame oil, and white coloured foods. For the rite of enrichment the hearth is square and yellow, and the sacraments include molasses, honey, sugar, curds, and yellow-coloured grains. For the rite of subjugation the hearth is semi-circular and red, while the sacraments include flowers, sour food, and red-coloured foods. Lastly, for the rite of wrath, the hearth is triangular and black, and the sacraments include poisons, blood, pungent substances, and black effigies.
