sngo dug mo nyung is a herb, distinct from the small tree dug mo nyung, identified with Holarrhena pubescens. mKhyen rab nor bu accepts other plants (than the Swallow-worts), but calling them byar pan chu rtsi zhes pa'i sngo dug mo snyung, according to the classification of Byar po pan chen, and chu rtsi indicates that it grows near streams (Kletter 2001)
The images in the Medical Thangkas and the Eye Ornament correspond much more to herbaceous Vincetoxicum (sngo dug mo nyung) than the tree Holarrhena (dug mo nyung).
Vincetoxicum species are members of the Dog-bane family, reputed as medicinal as well as toxic.
