1. Podophyllum hexandrum Royle (Berberidaceae) Himalayan mayapple (Wangyal 2020)

It is « growing in the forests, with one hard root and many smaller ones, with big leaves and a long stem, a beautiful red-coloured flower and fruit in the shape of cattle testicles, resembling a blood-filled bulge when ripe. The taste of the root is bitter and pungent, that of the leaf bitter and adstringent, while the fruit is sweet. The seeds are red to brown in colour. » (Kletter 2001)
